May 2011 Update Part 2

It was also the Mother/Daughter Activity for Activity days this month, where we did a "T" Party and had lots of fun. We had little chicken salad sandwiches, fruit, veggies, chips and dip and lemonade. We also talked about Temples and Testimonies. We had visited the temple with the girls and they all had a chance to write down their testimonies and those were handed out to their moms at the activity. Those girls are so cute!

It was Bryce’s 16^th birthday and Owens first official hair cut this month as well. As you can tell, Olivea need a cut too.

Also, we found out that someone bought our townhouse so we need to move. We have been looking for several weeks and finally found the perfect home, not too far from our current place too. We love it.

May 2011 Update Part 1

This month marks 5 years since my mom had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So I threw her a surprise party with all her friends and family. It was such a great turnout and she says she was so surprised. That same day happened to be Liz’s baby shower so Mom watched my kids while I went to the shower and then she met me back at the house to see all her friends for the party.

We hung up signs that we given to her during her treatment. There was also a display table with some of the items that she received during the hard days. As center pieces on the tables, we put all her hats that she wore once she shaved her head.

April 2011 Update

Garron and I celebrated 3 years of marriage on the 18^th. We dont have any pictures to document and honestly, I cant remember what we did. I think dinner at my favorite, Tepanyaki and we celebrated not being pregnant!!

And this was Livy’s first official Egg Hunt. Not too many pictures to document unfortunately. But we had fun getting her and Owen gifts from the Easter Bunny and then going to the Ward Egg Hunt. She didnt really understand what to do but she had fun.

My family bought a boat recently so they wanted to go somewhere for spring break and use the boat. So we ventured down to Lake Mead in Vegas, where I stayed with Garrons parents and they were so sweet to watch the kids for 2 days while we went boating. Garron was working in Vegas that week so he took Friday off and came out on the boat with us. The drive down and back was great and Owen didn’t make a peep.

March 2011 Update Part 2

Continuing with March.

My birthday was on the 31st and I turned 24. My friend Marci threw a little lunch at her house with some of my friends. It was so nice of Marci and was a great day. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the luncheon. Garron was out of town this time for the big day, but he sent flowers and cake.

Oh and Olivea can official go to Nursery at church because she is now 18months. WOO HOO. The church is true.

And I guess she can gamble too at 18 Months. Gotta start them young right?!?

March 2011 Update part 1

This month, Garron's brother, Michael, got married. He met Amy on his mission to Leeds, England. So we went down to be a part of the festivities. Congrats you two!

February 2011 Update

My mom's birthday was this month and we celebrated by going out for pizza and then walked around the Provo Beach Resort. Livy had fun playing in the play-place and Owen was content in his car seat. Also, Owen turned 6 Months. Guess it was kind of a low key month but with two babies under 2 nothing is ever "low-key". :)

Little did we know, this was the start of an extremely difficult eater. Since then he only likes milk, cereal, and chicken nuggets. Oh son, what am I going to do with you?!?

Guess its time to buy boy bibs. We only have girls colors I guess.

Trent and Lauren Get Hitched!!

January also was my good friend, Lauren’s Wedding. It was a beautiful day and I was so happy to be a part of it. She got married in the Mount Timpanogos temple and her reception was at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem.

Congrats Lauren and Trent. They are the cutest couple and are so in love it makes me SICK! :)

Garron was out of town and bummed to have missed it. Garron and Lauren have been friends for many years and Garron was the one who actually introduced me to Lauren. She is a great friend and we just don’t get to see enough of each other.

(Dont judge, I havent had a chance to loose the baby weight :) But its coming along slowing)

January was full of a couple birthdays: My brother, Brett, my nephew Brayden, and my good friend Marci.

We celebrated Brett’s bday at Chili’s.. Yummy!

And Marci’s at Chick-Fil-A, another YUMMY!

For Brayden’s birthday, we went over and had a yummy ice cream bar, watched Brayden get all messy and enjoyed visiting with the family. Thanks for having us over Kyrina! Happy Birthday Bray!

Alright folks, or just wasted space of the inter-web, I am going to attempt to update this blog because we are alive and we do more then just sit and watch Diego on Nickelodeon. Actually now that I think about it, that is usually what we do EVERYDAY.

So here goes the update from the beginning. More then a year of updates. I will understand if you now delete me from your blog roll. If you haven't deleted us, I thank you, and advise you to stay patient and any and all encouragement is appreciated.

Halloween 2010... A Little Late???

Garron was gone again this year for Halloween but that didn’t stop us from the festivities. Olivea was a Lady Bug and Owen wore Livy’s costume from last year and was a Duck. They looked so cute.

We went to my parent’s ward activity. They usually have a “carnival” with activities for the little kids and dinner and dessert for everyone. My parents were actually in Hawaii I think, so Shelby, Parker, Bryce and me and the kids went to the party to get some use out of the costumes. I didn’t want to take Olivea and Owen around Trick-or-Treating by myself and it was raining all day and night. Plus they are so little that I could get away with just taking them to ward functions and they wouldn’t know the difference.

We also went to my ward activity were we just had dinner and pictures taken. We sat with the McClellan family and Marci got her whole family all dressed up. I could barely recognize her!

It was a fun year but it will be so fun once Olivea and Owen want to dress up like something specific and we can take them around the neighborhood showing off their cute costumes. Till next year I guess.

Playing Catch up Once Again...

Lets start with Owen's Blessing:

We had to do Owen’s blessing on Oct. 10^th at our home and I will explain why. My grandparents were leaving for Hawaii on the 17^th, Garron had to work and his schedule was so crazy that he flew in that Sunday morning and had to leave the next day and wouldn’t be back till the next Sunday evening and then my grandparents left the next day. So we originally were going to have it at the church building but for some reason Michael and Amy booked flights for Saturday night and had to drive back Sunday night to get to work on Monday. They booked them before we knew we could change the date. Something happened with Garrons schedule where we were going to do it the next week but by that time Michael and Amy had already bought flights.

Confused yet??? Me too!!!

We had a ton of people come to support us and for that I am truly grateful. Those that had to drive back to Vegas didn’t stay long after the actual blessing and food but I am glad they were able to make it.

Owen looked so handsome and Garron did a wonderful job blessing him. We had a baked potato bar with all the toppings. Plus my mom made her amazing chili and also had cornbread for those that didn’t want a potato. I made Texas Sheet Cake for dessert and I think it is safe to say that we were all very full.

It was a wonderful day and I am grateful for my husband and that he holds the priesthood to be able to bless our children and bless our home like I grew up thinking my hubby would. I love you Garron!

My Sister in Law's Birthday is October 2nd and we celebrated by doing a few girl things and of course dinner!

We went to dinner as a family over Conference Weekend and luckily Michael, Amy, Trissa, Ashley(Amy's friend) and Mike (Michael's friend) were in town visiting for conference so they joined us. Kyrina decided she wanted to go to Tepanyaki and I was soooo excited. So we all met up there for dinner and chowed down. They we went back to their apartment and opened gifts. After gifts Kyrina and I went to grab Coldstone for us and our hubbies. Yummy! The following day, Saturday, Kyrina and I got a manicure, grabbed lunch and went to a movie. We had lots of fun with no babies and no boys!!! Thanks boys for watching the kids.

Kyrina has become one of my best friends. I am so happy she is a part of this family and that they live here in Utah now. She and I were able to spend a lot of time together over Thanksgiving, and we really got close and I love that we see eye to eye. Happy Birthday Kyrina. I look forward to spending many more birthdays together! Love you!!!

Because Olivea loves animals right now, we went to the Zoo the day after her birthday. Most of my family couldn't make it... :( Garron, me, Olivea and Owen started the day then Kallie, Brynne and Jackson (the kids she nannies for a bit) joined us later on. Garron ended up leaving around 1pm or so to catch a flight for work so Kallie and I tackled the zoo together. It was pretty fun and Olivea enjoyed seeing some of the animals. I dont think she understands yet that she has to look for the animals in the trees or around a rock instead of them just showing up on the TV screen. I think she will definitely love it next summer.

Olivea Turns 1!!!

Olivea turned 1 on September 12th at 10:40pm. That day was a Sunday and it was a crazy day with church and naps and getting the house ready. However, we had a ton of fun and loved celebrating Olivea with family.

We had everyone over for dinner. We had Taco Salad, quesadillas, watermelon and grapes. Little bit random right??!! But at the time Olivea's favorite thing was quesadillas and watermelon and grapes so we of course had to have that, but for the adults we added Taco Salad to make it more of a meal.

We of course had the traditionally cake smashing and she LOVED the cake. She gobbled it right down and wanted more for sure. She totally had a sugar high after that, then all of the sudden, she crashed and it was time for bed. Haha.. Kind of nice.

Olivea got some great presents too. Grandma Dawes and Curtis got her some cute new clothes. Auntie Kallie, Kyrina, and grandma got her some stuffed animals, boots and a fun new vacuum. Her dad and I got her a new sweat outfit, shorts for our trip to California, and some fun new tights. Girl made it out nice!!!

Happens every year, but although he is technically older each year, he sure doesnt act like it. But that's one of the reasons why I love him!

This year we went to Pizza Factory for dinner and enjoyed the day at Raging Waters. I dont have any pictures of the waterpark that day but we had fun. We also went with our good friends, the McClellans. We had a blast and cant wait for the summer again now that it is snowing outside.

Cousins Come to Play

Owen's grand entrance into this world is bitter-sweet. We were so excited to welcome him into the world and I think he was so excited to come play with us that he came all too fast. Start to finish, I was in labor for only 4 hours. Wonderful, right? Well I enjoyed (if thats what you call it) not being in pain too long, however progressing that fast is PAINFUL. Also, because Garron was traveling, he was unable to make it home in time to see Owen born. He did make it about 6 hrs later and didnt let go of Owen for quite awhile, but he did miss it. (Details to come)

This is a little bit random, but I wanted to post some pictures of what we have been up to so far this June. Daddy has been working lots but that means soon, we get to play lots. We have enjoyed the warm weather and really hate the days when it gets rainy or windy! Hopefully it will warm up soon and stay that way. Crazy Utah weather!!!

Las Vegas... May 2010

Well Olivea and I flew down to Las Vegas at the end of May because my Father-in-law got tickets for the girls to go see Carrie Underwood. We hadn't been to Vegas since January so it was about time to visit and see everyone. Plus Uncle Mikey got home from his mission at the end of April and he still hadn't met Olivea. So we headed to Vegas!

The Carrie Underwood concert was AMAZING. Usually most live concerts are awesome but sound not so great, but Carrie was spot on and sounded GREAT! Thanks to my awesome father-in-law for getting us tickets, not to mention 12th row tickets! Of course we all forgot our cameras at home. LAME. But still we had a great time. And thanks again to Bryan (and Mikey) for watching Olivea so us girls could partay!

Garron had to work the day we needed to fly out so Olivea and I went ahead and Garron flew in on Sunday night. We had a great time enjoying the warm weather while it snowed in Utah and just catching up with family. Thanks to the Combs who let us stay at their house and Mikey for letting us take over his room for a week.

While we were there, a family from the Combs' ward invited us to their family home evening at a near by park. We enjoyed visiting with them but the highlight was walking down the street to see all the peacocks. There are about 30-40 wild peacocks that just kinda live at this house and in the trees. The owners of the home leave out dog food at night for them to eat and the peacocks just stick around. Olivea LOVED watching them and also feeding the horses. She really loves animals and Papa is great to show her all about them.

One actually opened it's feathers for us. So pretty!

And Papa even helped Olivea feed one. It kinda scared her but she was brave!

At the park, Olivea tried swinging for the FIRST time. She loved it. Not too many parks have swings anymore, in fact since we have been home I have been trying to find one but have had no luck! :(

Oh great... She already wants to drive a red sports car. Her Papa is so proud!

We ended the trip going swimming at the Henderson Multi-Gen Pool. Olivea loves to swim and it was a really warm day. She took a great nap after! That's the best part for Mom!

My little brother had a birthday a little while ago. We love having Bryce around and as he gets older, he is more and more fun to be with. I love watching him grow up and transform from a boy to a man. Although that process is a long time coming!

Oh and a few weeks ago, Bryce had a choir concert that we went to to support him. Well, really to make fun of him afterward. Awhile ago he told us he was in the "deep end". Meaning he was a bass not a tenor. Silly boy!

Dancing Through the Decades

A couple of months ago, my parent's stake put on what they called "Dancing and Dating Through the Decades". The youth from each ward had to choreograph a dance to a song from a certain decade and before each performance there was a little skit about dating. It was great for the youth to learn proper dancing styles and appropriate dating habits from the For the Strength of Youth Pamphlet. The stake performed for the parents/families and of course we were all there to support my little brother Bryce.

Olivea loved all the dancing and music and was great through the entire program. Way to go girl!!!

Well we found out a little while ago, that we are having a little guy join our family in September. It will be nice to have one of each but honestly I was kinda hoping for a girl. I guess I am just comfortable with a girl since that's all I know, but its getting exciting thinking about all the stuff we now will do with having a boy around.

Garron is so thrilled to have a little boy to play with. The week we found out he kept saying things like, "I cant wait to take him to basketball with me" or " We can go on camp-outs and you and Olivea can get your nails done". I like the sound of that!!! He even said that Olivea loves him the most so we have to have another one so I can have a child love me. Haha funny right??? WRONG!

We thought we had a name picked out and ready to go but we are still throwing a few around. So he might just be "he" until September! I have started shopping for boy stuff ( everything around here is PINK) and its so fun to buy newborn stuff again. Everything is so small and precious!

I have wanted to document more of this pregnancy so that I can look back and see the differences, but that is easier said than done. So I will try and post soon on how the pregnancy is going so far.

We went to Kauai, Hawaii in March to visit my grandparents (who have been living there since October 2009), and take a family vacation. We had such a great time and Olivea LOVES to swim in the pool. So she can stay in our family.... We are kinda water people! Haha...

10.22.09 Olivea's Photo Shoot

Well I was planning on getting newborn pictures done when Olivea was about 2 or 3 weeks old but I never got around to it. I ran into my friend Ann the other day and asked if she would take O’s pictures soon and she agreed. We ended up taking her newborn pictures when she was about 6 weeks. Oh well… At least they got done before her first birthday!

Recently we had Olivea’s first photo shoot. We once again recruited our good family friend Ann Beal to help take the photos. Ann took our Engagement Photos, took pictures at our wedding (in addition to our photographer), Maternity Pictures, Olivea’s Newborn pictures and now our Family Pictures. She is not trained but has an amazing talent and her son Chase also helps. We decided to jump in on the action during Olivea’s pictures and get some family pictures taken… I don’t think she minds. They turned out better than I imagined and I am so happy with the results. Thank you so much Ann!!!

O's First Bath... 9.27.09

In my prenatal class, the instructor told us that we only needed to give the baby a bath once a week. I was a little taken back by that but once we got home from the hospital, bath time was the last thing on my mind. But finally we decided she should probably have a bath but I was a little nervous to do it by myself for the first time. So my mom offered to help. So now Olivea has to live with the fact that her first bath was from Grandma because mom was too chicken. Don’t worry… we are starting a savings account for Olivea’s therapy when she turns 17 and we are taking donations. Haha…..

10.26.09 First Snow

Well it snowed today, October 26th. Livy and I stayed home all day and didn't really notice the snow until I walked past by back window and saw it all. There was so much that my neighbor even built a snowman. Luckily it melted before Halloween. But seriously, snow BEFORE Halloween???? Where do I live?

Olivea's Blessing 11.15.0

Olivea's Blessing day was wonderful. We had friends and family over before church for lunch and it was great to see everyone. Garron did a beautiful job with the Blessing and the circle was huge. I kept thinking that we would only have a few people there but I was wrong. Those in the circle were:

My mom is pretty awesome! After going through Chemo and Radiation for Breast Cancer, my mom was ready to get healthy. She has since joined Weight Watchers to learn to eat healthy and also started running again. A few years ago my mom actually ran a marathon. She runs now almost everyday and usually 3-8 miles a day!! I’m not sure I could even run one mile! But August 8^th of this year she entered into her first race since cancer…. a Half Marathon. Some of the family and her besties came to see her cross the finish line. She ran with some of the girls that worked at the Waterpark this year. Keep in mind they are all 20 years younger than her but that didn’t stop her. She crossed the finish line with all of them. Good Job Mom

Shelby Moves Out

Shelby, my little sister, had decided to go to Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She worked really hard to score high enough on her ACT test to get accepted and it paid off. It’s a tradition that Mom and Grandma help to move the girls out, get the apartment set up, and of course go grocery shopping for the first time. When I moved out it was just me, mom and grandma. When Kallie moved out, it was the whole gang. And again when Shelby moved out we all were there. Even Olivea came along… still in the belly though.

We went up on Monday afternoon had dinner and got her apartment set up and groceries purchased. The next morning Mom dropped Shelby off at her first day of work and then we all had to get back so we could work. We had so much fun helping Shelby. It’s always hard to leave but we knew that she would be ok and she is only 2 hours away. Good Luck Shelby.

Temple Open House

Garron and I were able to go to the Oquirrah Mountain Temple Open House earlier this summer. We brought Trissa (Garron’s little sister staying with us for the summer) with us as well. She had gone a few weeks earlier with some of the youth of her ward when they came up from Vegas for a Temple trip, but she said she still enjoyed it.

I love when I drive into Salt Lake and I can see all the Temples in the Valley. The Church just recently announced another new Temple site in Utah, Brigham City, which would make a total of 14 temples in Utah.

We had a wonderful time visiting the temple and to see all of the hard work that went into the building of the Temple. Soon, I hope to go again with Garron to do a session.

Dinner in the Mountains... July 2009

Every year my family usually goes camping. It’s always a difficult task as we own a summer business that requires most of the family to be at work 5-7 days a week. So we always try and plan to go around my dad’s day off and spend that evening and the next morning/afternoon up the canyon. However, this year we did not find the time for the annual camping trip. We tried several times and got pretty close, but somehow things still got in the way.

So instead of actually going camping this year, my family invited me to have dinner up the canyon. It was so nice to spend a few hours with my family in the beautiful mountains and enjoy a wonderful dinner. Garron was working that week so he missed out but my dad did a great job with dinner!!! (Notice I was still prego… seems like forever ago.)

Shelby’s Graduation

My little sister Shelby graduated high school earlier this year. It was awhile ago and she is now in college but I thought I would document it anyway.

Shelby wasn’t like the other siblings. We were all SO ready to get out of high school and move out, but Shelby loved high school. She had a ton of friends and really loved school, and it probably helped that Mom and Dad was a lot easier on her then any of us other kids.

The night of graduation the whole family had dinner at Macaroni Grill and watched as she opened her graduation gift… a brand new laptop computer. She was so excited. We headed off to the graduation ceremony and sat through it just to watch the 2 second walk Shelby made to get her diploma. Oh well, she did it! Congratulations Shelby!!!

Olivea Janelle Combs came into the world September 12th, 2009 at 10:40pm. I will post labor info and pictures later but Ill just say for now that it was a long rough day.

Olivea is currently in the NICU for bleeding on her head from the vacuum and her white blood cell count is high. They are keeping a good eye on her and she is getting better and better.

I guess everyone in my family has gotten a surprise party except for Kallie. So this year she turned 20 on the 20th of July and all she wanted (at the time) was a surprise party. So my mom, being the party queen that she is, planned a surprise party for Kallie and her friends at The Old Spaghetti Factory a week before her actual birthday.

We had told her that Grandma and Grandpa had invited the family to dinner that night at 7:30 after her class. But really all of the invitees would show up around 7. I went into work that day to help with a large group and hurried to make it there right as Kallie was pulling up. Once we got into the restaurant we found the party room and everyone had their faces covered with their menus. Once Kallie walked in everyone yelled SURPRISE. She was so happy and definetly surprised.

A Day at the Waterpark

Some of you may know that my parents own Raging Waters Water Park in Salt Lake. Well every so often we decide to spend the day there and bring along some friends. The first day we went this year was after my dad's surprise party with some of my family and some friends from my ward. I didnt get too many pictures but there are some to document the day.

We had a great time cooling off in the water and spending time with friends. Ever since I got EXTREMELY burned on my honeymoon I have tried to be better with putting sunscreen on. I reminded Garron and Trissa (garron's sister) to put sunscreen on, however no one listened. So Garron got FRIED on his back and Trissa got FRIED on her sholders and chest. Lesson learned?? You bet it was.. Always listen to Abby!!!! (Too bad I didnt get any pictures of the sunburn!)

This year my dad turned the big 5-0. So my mom decided to throw him a surprise party. For anyone that knows my dad, he hates to be put on the spot so a surprise party was PERFECT!!

My mom had arranged for my dads brothers and their families to come up from California to celebrate. When he saw his brothers he got a little emotional... so tender!!!

After all day of setting up and getting ready, it was a great time had by all!!
